Background
John grew up in Cornwall, Ontario.
Education / Employment History
- 1965-1968 - Eastern Ontario Institute of Technology (now Algonquin College). Graduated as an Electronic Engineering Technologist
- 1968-1971 - Computing Devices of Canada - Technologist in avionics, Test Set Moving map, Jet Thrust Computer display, and Versatile Avionics System Test programmable active power supply loads.
- 1971-1973 - Consolidated Computer - Technologist; test engineering, product support, new product design / development.
- 1973-1973 - Mumac Int’l -VP Engineering - Video terminals
- 1973-1976 - Consolidated Computer - Technologist; test engineering, product support, new product design / development and Technical Program Manager for Lottario & Lotto Quebec lottery program. Set up R&O facility in Toronto.
- 1976-1978 - Campagna Bros Machine Shop - Designed, built and installed a point-to-point CNC servo controller.
- 1981-1981 - National Semiconductor – Field Application Engineer for Ottawa and Montreal
- 1982-1985 - Motorola Semiconductor Canada Ltd. - District Sales Manager covering sales in Ottawa (except Nortel)

Amateur Radio History
- 1964 - First licensed as VE3BLE in Cornwall, Ontario. Active on 80M - 6M and 2M mobile with a Big Wheel antenna on the car. Worked Montreal, Buffalo and Ottawa with a Heathkit Twoer and a 50’ tower with a 13 element yagi.
- 1996 - After a period of inactivity and non-renewal of license obtained current call sign VE3ZOV.
Additional Information
Member of RAC, ARRL, PARC, and OVMRC. Active on HF CW and SSB and on VHF.
He organized the OVMRC 1999 and 2000 Fleamarkets at the Stittsville Arena.
John is a member of QCWA and Chapter 70. He received his “45 Years Licensed” lapel pin at the Chapter 70 May 2009 dinner meeting. John was our Chapter 70 photographer
for the following dinner meetings: February 2000, May 2000, September 2000, November 2000 May 2001, May 2002, November 2002, May 2003, November 2007, all dinner
meetings since November 2009 as well as the QCWA Conventions in October 2000 and 2004.
