Background
Clay grew up in Nova Scotia.
Education / Employment History
- 1943 – Joined Royal Canadian Air Force – initially as radio operator – posted to Lac De Morbiham, Quebec, and later on the ICAO CW circuit to Gander and the UK from Dorval, Quebec. Later Clay served as a radar instructor at RCAF Station Clinton, Ontario.
- 1968 – Department of Transport (Ottawa) Air Services Training School, Telecommunications and Electronics Section – Instructor on Radar
Amateur Radio History
- 1950 – First licensed.
- Other call signs held over the years and postings – VE2TH.
- By 1986 - had received two-letter call sign VE3TL.
Additional Information
Member of Ottawa Amateur Radio Club.
Clay’s son Steve is VE3KEL.
Clay was also a member of QCWA and Chapter 70.
He was presented with is QCWA “60 Years Licensed” Golden Certificate and lapel pin at the Chapter 70 May 2010 dinner meeting.
Clay passed away on November 8, 2010 at the age of 85 years.
