Background
Ray grew up in England.
Education / Employment History
- 1929-1940 - Canadian Line Materials Ltd, Sales Department.
- 1940-1941 - Royal Canadian Corps of Signals - Second Lieutenant.
- 1941-1946 - Royal Canadian Corps of Signals, attached to 5th Armoured Divn, then Canadian Liaison Officer, Signals Research and Development Establishment at Christchurch, Hants followed by Canadian Military HQ, London, England as Technical Officer.
- 1946 - Ray retired from the army with the rank of Major.
- 1946 - 1964 He rejoined CLM Industries (formerly Canadian Line Materials Ltd) as District Manager.
- 1964-1971 - Ray joined McGraw Edison of Canada (Toronto) as Sales Manager, Power Systems Division.
- 1971 - He retired to Ottawa.
Amateur Radio History
- 1920 - First licensed as 2CW in Montreal, later NC2CW in St Lambert, Quebec.
- 1926-1938 Operated as VE2AR in St Lambert and Montreal, Quebec
- 1946 - Ray operated as VE3RT in Ottawa, then Toronto, and then Ottawa from then on.
Additional Information
Ray joined QCWA and Chapter 70 in 1976.
He was presented with a “50 Year Licensed” Golden Certificate and lapel pin at the May 1979 dinner meeting.
In addition to his amateur radio hobby, Ray was also an active power boater.
1976-1977 - He was Commander of the Ottawa Power Squadron.
Ray passed away in 1990 at the age of 85 years.
