John grew up in northern Manitoba

- 1966 – Arctic Radio Corporation – Radio Station CFAR – radio announcer;
- 1967-1969 - Summer mining jobs in Flin Flon and Lynn Lake to earn money for university.
- 1970 - University of Manitoba – graduated with Bachelor of Arts degree
- 1970 – Government of Manitoba (The Pas) – Probation and Parole Officer.
- 1974 - The Pas (Manitoba) Health Complex - Director of Social Work
- 1975 - University of Regina – graduated with Bachelor of Social Work,
- 1975 – Prince Albert (Saskatchewan) Community Health Centre – Program Development Officer
- 1979 - University of Saskatchewan – graduated in Health Care Administration
- 1979 – Health Sciences Centre (Winnipeg) – Executive Director of Community Health Centre
- 1983 – Prince Albert, SK - Executive Director of Northern Housing Development (nursing homes, housing)
- 1987-2008 – Ontario Public Service – Administrator or Executive Director of long term care institutions (Woodstock, Belleville, and Smith Falls.)
- 2008 – Retired from last posting – Administrator at Rideau Regional Centre outside Smiths Falls.
- 2008-2009 – George Brown College – Graduated (honours) from Electronic Technician program
Amateur Radio History
- 1964 – first licensed as VE4JI in Flin Flon, Manitoba.
- 1977 – received Advanced certificate.
- Other call signs held as employment took me around the country over the years – VE5BAF, VE4CS, VE5CN and now VE3PUX

Member of RAC and ARRL.
Now located near Perth on acreage suitable for growing antenna farm.
John is a member of QCWA and Chapter 70. John received his QCWA “40 Years Licensed” lapel pin at the Chapter 70 November 2008 dinner meeting.
