Background
Ted was born on February 10, 1923 in Truro, Nova Scotia. He moved to Ottawa in his late teens to pursue a career in the federal government.

- 1982 Retired from Contracts Approval Board as Secretary.
- Ted completed a Management Program offered by Harvard University at MacDonald College in Montréal.
Amateur Radio History
- 1937 First licensed as VE1MR in Truro, Nova Scotia. CW and AM on 80, 40 & 20
- 1946-1948 Operated as VE2VG from the cottage at Farm Point, Quebec on 80M AM
- 1954-1960 Operated as VE3AYU in Ottawa on 20M CW.
- 1980s onward VE3JGQ until acquiring two-letter call sign VE3LV in 1999. Ted worked mostly 20 and 15M SSB and 2M FM in the latter years, maintaining both call signs.
Additional Information
Ted was a member of Kemptville Amateur Radio Club, the Manotick Amateur Radio Group, the Ottawa Valley Mobile Radio Club, the American Radio Relay League and Ottawa Amateur Radio Club, serving as an OARC Director.
He served as Net Control Station for the Manotick 2M Net. He also served as one of the NCS on the 20M Snowbird Net.
At the time of his death in 2002, Ted was assisting with the OVMRC Ham Radio training classes in the areas of transmission lines and antennas.
Ted was a regular attendee of the Canadian Police Amateur Radio Club monthly breakfast. Following his death, all the attendees agreed to dedicate every January breakfast as the Annual VE3LV Memorial Breakfast in his honour.
He was a member of Chapter 70, QCWA. He served on the organizing committee for the 1996 QCWA Convention in Ottawa.
His 60 Year pin and Golden Certificate were presented to Ted at the Chapter 70 September 1998 dinner meeting.
Ted did the final desk-top editing and layout, and he printed the Chapter 70 1974-1999 History Book.
He served as a Chapter 70, QCWA Director in 2002.
Ted’s other hobbies included his two grandchildren, photography, woodworking, cooking, and fishing at his family cottage.
Ted’s daughter Frances is VA3FEC and son-in-law Dennis is VA3DWC. His other son-in-law is Ben AD5YY ex-VE3CDA
Ted passed away on December 20, 2002.
