Education / Employment History
- Fred was a Word War II veteran having served with Royal Canadian Corps of Signals
- Following the war, Fred joined the Department of Mines and Technical Surveys in Ottawa as a Technician responsible for maintaining radios and other survey equipment.
- He retired in the late 1980’s.
Amateur Radio History
- Fred was licensed in 1950 and held the call sign VE3KH in 1959
Additional Information
He was a member of OARC and served as OARC Technical Advisor (1966-1968)
Fred joined QCWA and Chapter 70, and was presented with his “45 Year Licensed” lapel pin in 1995.
He applied CPR unsuccessfully to Walt Wooding VE3WW who had a fatal heart attack at the Chapter 70 November 1990 dinner meeting.
Fred was active on RTTY and other digital modes during the 1990’s.
He passed away on September 3, 1997 at the age of 73 years.
