Since moving to Ottawa in 1957, have been active on both CW and Phone modes (HF) and VHF/UHF (FM).

Charter Member of Ottawa Valley Mobile Radio Club (1957) and served as Technical Advisor (1960-1961 and 1973), and President (1967-1968).

Responsible for the establishment of Amateur Radio Station VE3JW at the Canadian Museum of Science and Technology. Official opening ceremony was on March 19, 1974.

Member of RAC, ARRL and RSO.

1969-2005 – Manager of the Ottawa Amateur Radio Swap Net

Started the Pot Lid Slow-Speed CW Net (1973). Net Manager for the Pot-Hole Net. Takes turn as Net Control Station for both.

Life Member of QCWA and one of the twenty-one Charter Members of Chapter 70.

Served on the Organizing Committee (Hospitality) for the QCWA 1996 and 2004 International Conventions.

Received QCWA Century Certificate at the Chapter 70 May 2001 dinner meeting.

With wife Doreen VE3CGO, received the QCWA Meritorious Award at the Chapter 70 February 2005 dinner meeting.

Received QCWA “75 Years Licensed” Golden Certificate and lapel pin at the Chapter 70 May 2013 dinner meeting and Chapter 70 Life Membership at the Chapter 70 November 2010 dinner meeting.

Ed passed away on Nov 1, 2013 in his 93rd year.
