Ralph grew up in Toronto.
Education / Employment History
- 1935- Rogers Majestic Radio Corporation (Toronto) - Test Dept
- 1936-1940 - National Trust Company (Toronto)
- 1940-1976 - TCA (Air Canada) Telecommunications, in Winnipeg and in Dorval, QC. During his career, Ralph served as a radio operator, technician, Manager of Telephone and Teletype Systems, and Coordinator of Radio Services.
- 1976 – He retired to Ottawa.
Amateur Radio History
- 1932 - first licensed as VE3RT in Toronto. He was active until WWII.
- 1939 - Obtained Advanced Certificate
- 1946 - Licensed in Winnipeg as VE4RT
- 1950 - Assigned VE2YZ in Dorval, Quebec and then VE2RT.
- 1977 - Assigned VE3KEA upon move to Ottawa
- 1978 - Applied for and granted two-letter call sign VE3GG
Additional Information
Ralph was a member of Ottawa Amateur Radio Club and was active on SSB on all HF bands and 2M FM
He also joined QCWA in 1981 and served as Director of Chapter 70 1989-1991 and Secretary for part of 1991. He had to resign due to ill health.
Ralph passed away on January 6, 1992 at age 76.
